There is an organised effort within parts of the Camden Green Party and Greens For Palestine (G4P) to block Zack Polanski’s selection as parliamentary candidate for Holborn and St Pancras, linked to him being Jewish and to his opposition to the ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion [as previously covered earlier this week].
Camden Green Party has a documented antisemitism problem.
In the 2026 local elections, a Camden candidate was suspended by the national party and had local endorsement withdrawn after sharing material claiming ‘Zionists’ were behind 9/11, that the Hatzola Jewish ambulance arson in Golders Green was an Israeli ‘false flag’, a 2021 post calling Keir Starmer an ‘Israeli poppet’, and a 2018 post reading ‘Stay strong Hamas, you’re the pride of the sleeping ummah’. This was reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, My London, The Jewish Chronicle and Jewish News.
I’ve personally witnessed antisemitic attitudes among Camden volunteers and candidates while campaigning, and have submitted a formal complaint about one candidate. Separately, after Polanski declined to endorse the ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion, a Camden candidate privately called him a ‘Jewish snake’ and a ‘Lib-Dem opportunist’. There is a great deal of hatred towards Polanski within antisemitic groups.
Greens for Palestine (G4P) represents the party’s far-left wing, and should be distinguished from genuine support for Palestinian rights and self-determination. G4P has repeatedly shown signs of antisemitism and, despite being a minority, wields real influence by organising to get radical candidates into local party positions.
This is backed by reporting: in March 2026, The Telegraph revealed leaked WhatsApp messages from a G4P group chat calling Jewish people ‘an abomination to this planet’. The Jewish Chronicle later reported G4P demanding Jewish Greens ‘liberate their minds from the supremacist grip of Zionism’. G4P are also the people behind the “Zionism is Racism” motion and backing candidates suspended over antisemitism.
That the Green Party’s own leader could struggle to be selected in a very winnable seat because he’s Jewish, or because he won’t equate Zionism with racism, shows a serious failure to confront antisemitism. It’s shocking this is even a live question.
I believe that Polanski is the only candidate who could win this seat, so to have a faction seriously try to field an unelectable candidate over Polanski is shocking.
I am wondering if the Green Party is for me after the growth of antisemitism, and I know this is a very common view point among my peers in the Green Party.
